Russia will introduce a unified electronic visa for foreign travellers from 52 countries worldwide on January 1, 2021. Travellers can apply for a Russian e-visa online at, the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or by using their mobile phones. E-visas will be available for tourism, business, cultural purposes and private visits. E-visa applicants are not required to submit invitations, hotel reservations, or any other documents to confirm their visit purpose. Just complete an online application form and upload a photo and scanned copy of your passport, and pay a $40 processing fee (children under six are exempt from the fee) and wait for visa approval. E-visa processing time will not take more than four days. The visas will be valid for 60 days from the day of issuance. It will allow foreigners to stay in Russia for up to 16 days. Entering Russia through a border crossing, a traveller will need to present a printed copy of their e-visa notification as well as a valid passport at border control.
